Indigenous African: Kuba Cloth

This elegant, uber long skirts from the Ngende, Bushong, and Ngongo peoples in Republic of Congo, is a beauty to behold.
It's made of bark, raffia, and decorated with cowrie shells, applique and embroidered shapes and patterns.
The design process is tedious as the materials used are washed and pounded several times to make them wearable.
I will call this a "must have"

I'll be visiting RC soon to get mine :)  Do you love this? Please let us know!

I am all for preservation of our heritage and perhaps this deserves its place in museum. We have to admit that this is cumbersome and add the hot African sun to the equation equals to nightmare.
