Indigenous African:Mud Cloth

A fabric that will set your heart pacing!
Mud Cloth has become a symbol of Malian Identity. This handmade beauty  also known as Bògòlanfini or bogolan, is produced locally using Malian cotton fabric with a special, fermented mud.
Malian men do the hard work -weaving, and women dye it. Splendid!
The dyeing technique is not as easy as you might think, and it's been described as "strange and cumbersome" due the soaking and bleaching process.
The patterns are rich in cultural significance.
Tell us what you think?
