Indigenous African: Dida Skirt

Original Dida skirt

This cloth from Ivory Coast is made of plait strands of raffia. It is woven without loom, tied,resist-dyed and re-dyed.
This skirt is typically dyed yellow, red and black derived from plant roots, leaves and minerals. They are no longer made and can be found in museums.

I found a modern take on this skirt from Proenza Schoulder Open-weave cotton-blend macrame skirt Outnet- £2,392.

Very expensive, isn't it?
