Dangerous Beauty: Senegal Style Gums Tattooing

Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder. What you find beautiful, others may find revolting. An extreme case of this quest for perfection came to light yesterday when a video site screened live sessions of a Senegalese woman, undergoing a painful procedure to improve her smiles.

So painful

This treatment involves tattooing a combination of burnt oil and shea butter. The mixture is then pressed into the gums before a needle is repeatedly pricked into it. Undoubtedly, this is torture.

 Are black gums really more beautiful than red ones? The lady in the picture said they are. Though she doesn't recommend this treatment to anyone, she thinks is a must-do to attract men.
