Top 10 tips on How to Date Online Safely this Valentine

It's the love month. Valentine is here again!
Not surprising that many singletons will be clamouring to have a date..But at what cost?

Few years ago, online dating was a taboo subject. People who put themselves as available on the internet were considered the "undateables". There were question marks raised with many in doubt that they are really who they say are.
It was also argued if they were right, they would've been snapped up in real life and no need for online Ad.
Whilst I don't condemn online dating,
it's worth noting that many vulnerable women have fallen victims of Internet scammers, worst case scenario-death.

Recent case was a horror story of a young Nigerian woman, Cynthia Osokogu, snuffed out in her prime by people she met on Facebook.
Facebook is a great networking site, but it's no secret that people also use it as a dating site.
Undoubtedly, there are positive stories of happy ever after but treading carefully is the key to reducing risks.

If you must find your date online, here are the few tips to stay safe;

1. Never divulge your phone number to the date.
2. Make sure you peruse their profile especially if they are on Facebook...  comments and statuses can tell of their state of mind.
3. Do you have mutual friends? find out and ask around who this person really is.
4. You must know what they do for a living. Ask!
5. Ask a friend to keep a close mark by either escorting you or texting to know how you are getting on.
6. Never go to your date's home- a recipe for disaster. Meet them in a public place of your choice.
7. Never give information about your financial status.
8. Never leave your drinks unattended. Remember they can be spiked.
9. Never talk about your EX.
10.Never send nude photos. You will certainly regret this when they turn up online.
