It was a "must-buy" in 20th century Nigeria. Made by Yoruba women, the popularity was waning, and possibly heading towards the 'museum only' category till designers like Maki Oh resurrected this amazing cloth .
The intricate designs are hand-painted onto cloth with a cassava paste, and the dyeing process involves various resist dyeing techniques.
